    Description

    SINGING IN THE RAIN
THIS PRECIOUS ALL WEATHER/RAINCOAT & HAT FROM 1968 WAS MY LITTLE GIRL'S.  I recently found it stored away in a box with other of her baby/toddler & girl's clothing, several of which can currently be viewed on eBay.
A label inside a side pocket indicates it's a size 5 and from Sears Roebuck and Company.  The fabric content is unknown but my guess? would be that it is a cotton and polyester blend OR maybe silk?
This is a stylish, quality & well-made coat. It is double-breasted, accented with 6 gold buttons on the floral side and dark brown buttons on the beige side.  Both the coat and the hat are reversible, boasting a red orange background covered with playful white daisies on one side and a solid beige color on the other side. The flowered fabric is soft and has a silky feel but is strengthened in its flow by the fabric on the beige side which is considerably heavier.
    Considering its
    49! years
the coat is in good vintage condition with the expected age wear, some runs in the floral fabric and light color fading owing to a washing or two.
Regarding the flowered side: There is a pin head sized hole on one sleeve (photo 5), 2 short runs/fraying on the other sleeve (photo 4) & a small hole just above the hem which is only visible when the coat is unbuttoned.  The lower left hand button is a tad bit difficult to loop over as it was stitched so closely to the partner button on the opposite side.  This is an easy fix by removing both buttons and stitching more loosely.
Regarding the beige side: Owing to washing, the orange color appears to have run, leaving sporadic light orange staining in areas around the sleeve cuffs, the bottom of the hem and near the breast area where it buttons (photos 6 & 7).  A long thin stain can be seen along the left shoulder (photo 8).
The hat is in overall good condition but a home repair long ago was necessary for a frayed seam as can be seen in photo 10 and no guarantees as to its long term use.
PLEASE VISIT THE PHOTOS TO VIEW THE ABOVE MENTIONED AS WELL AS SEEING HOW THE STYLE, COLOR COMBOS & BUTTON ACCENTS SET THIS COAT APART FROM OTHERS.
    IT'S SIMPLY ADORABLE ON!
IT WOULD ALSO MAKE A GREAT PIECE FOR USE IN A STAGE PRODUCTION.
THE COAT AND HAT ARE BEING SOLD AS IS SO PLEASE EMAIL ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS.
THANK YOU FELLOW MOMS FOR LOOKING.
