    Description

I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions to pass them along to you, and always keep an eye out for antique clothing.
I have just found a collection of children's clothing and underwear from the 1910s, the Edwardian Era.  These are SO rare: most clothing that survives are fancy-wear outfits, not the everyday items like underwear and daywear.  These are great for museum displays, historical interpreters, and study garments.
This is a child's duster coat made of white linen.  It is made of white linen and decorated with white embroidery around the cuffs, done by hand.  It could be worn by either boys or girls.  It has long sleeves and opens all the way down the center front.  The collar is a narrow band with one smaller button, and there are three 1" buttons below it.  The buttonholes are sewn by hand.  It flares below the sleeves. The sleeves are long and have fold-back cuffs, decorated with white embroidery.  The back is plain.   Please use the zoom function to appreciate all the detail.
measurements, all taken with the garment lying flat: 12" across front from shoulder seam to shoulder seam; 17" across front at underarms; ~26 across front at hem;  ~15" sleeve length from shoulder seam to end of cuff; ~27" total length from center back to hem.
I have laundered and pressed this and found the fabric to be in excellent condition, soft and not brittle.  It in remarkably good shape for a 100 year old garment.  However, there are also some faint stained areas that didn't quite disappear with one laundering, particularly at the lower right edge in front and around the cuffs - the cuffs are areas that would get legitimately dirty with wear.  Otherwise this is very good. Please write in if you have questions, and check all the Edwardian children's clothing I am listing.
I am storing this in my smoke-free home, but I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies. Please contact me for more information or photos.  I am happy to combine items to save on shipping, so check my other listings too.  Thanks for looking!
